Book Club

HOPE has 2 Book Clubs.  Everyone is welcome to attend one or the other, or both!

The Daytime Book Club meets the fourth Monday of the month unless that day is a holiday. We don’t meet in January, February, June or July. We gather at HOPE or the Kinni View Deli at noon. More information can be found each month in This Week at HOPE.  The next meeting is Monday January 20, 2020 at HOPE.   Discussing: This Tender Land – For fans of Before We Were Yours and Where the Crawdads Sing, a magnificent novel about four orphans on a life-changing odyssey during the Great Depression. All are welcome to join us on Monday January 20th, 12:00 in the Eidskog Room.

The Evening Book Club meets the last Monday of each month, September through May, usually at 7pm at a member’s  home.  Community members and friends are always welcome to join us for an evening of lively conversation starting with the recommended monthly book, but always leading the group in new directions!

Our next meeting will be at the home of Verna and Roger Tweiten on Monday, February 24th, at 7pm, at 3414 Cambridge Place.  Our discussion will center on the book  On The Brink of Everything (Grace, Gravity, & Getting Old) by Parker J. Palmer, as he “explores what he’s learning about self and world, inviting readers to explore their own experience” and “meditates on the meanings of life,  past, present, and future.” He is the founder and senior partner emeritus of the Center for Courage & Renewal and the author of ten books.
