HOPE has 2 Book Clubs. Everyone is welcome to attend one or the other, or both!
The Daytime Book Club meets the fourth Monday of the month unless that day is a holiday. We don’t meet in January, February, June or July. We gather at HOPE or the Kinni View Deli at noon. More information can be found each month in This Week at HOPE. The next meeting is Monday December 17, 2018, at 1:00 at Nancy Peters home for this month. We’ll discuss “Goodnight Mr. Wodehouse” by Faith Sullivan. Nell Stillman’s road is not easy. When her boorish husband dies soon after they move to the small town of Harvester, Minnesota. Nell is alone, penniless yet responsible for her beloved baby boy, Hillyard. Not an easy fate in small-town America at the beginning of the twentieth century.
The Evening Book Club meets the last Monday of each month, September through May, usually at 7pm at a member’s home. Community members and friends are always welcome to join us for an evening of lively conversation starting with the recommended monthly book, but always leading the group in new directions! The evening also includes refreshments as the group shares reading recommendations and makes plans for future gatherings. For further information, please call the church office. The next meeting is Monday November 26, 2018, at 7:00 at Milo and Betty Lou Oppegard’s home to discuss “How to Reconnect with Our Digitally Distracted Kids” by Thomas J. Kersting.
